The Ontario Association for Infant and Child Development (OAICD) represents Infant and Child Development Programs (ICDPs) in Ontario that are funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.

At OAICD, we believe that all children deserve access to quality services that promote their development and well-being. A diagnosis is not required for access to infant and child development service. Your child is eligible if you have concerns for your child's development.

What is an Infant & Child Development Program?

Infant & Child Development Programs provide primarily home-based services including support, information and early intervention services to children from birth to school entry who have a developmental disability or risk of developmental delay.

ICDPs are required partners for the SmartStart Hubs and may act as the first point of contact with the children's service sector for many families.

The Ontario Association for Infant and Child Development (OAICD) has a passion for life-long learning and supports members to continue their learning. The goal of OAICD educational opportunities is to develop quality, evidenced-based practices and strong families in early intervention.

Lorna Montgomery (1947 – 2018) was a true pioneer in the field of Early Intervention and a founding member of the Ontario Association for Infant Development. During her career, she championed family-centred practice and innovative practices. Lorna firmly believed in continuing education, even when budgets were tight, to stimulate and motivate individuals to provide quality services to families.

The OAICD Board honoured Lorna in her retirement with the establishment of the Lorna Montgomery Lifelong Learning Fund, open to all members of the association so that they may access funds to support their own love of learning.
